BABY’S QUESTION

The sky turned black with dense smoke

As everything on the ground fiercely burnt

Police vans, school buses, cars and tires

No discrimination as to what to be torched

Violent mobs ran amok, swirling weapons

Swords, sticks, bottles, guns and bombs

Houses and shops were gutted brutally

As the innocent children and mothers wept

Face crushed with tears, a baby asked,

“Ma, why this anger? What is religion or politics?

Mother wiping her flowing blood, tears, said

“That is something, the ones safe at home can have

That is the weapon to kill, ruin the weak.

We, the poor, have no right to understand that

But, only to keep running for food and shelter”
